With the introduction of new smart products – bulbs, switches, controllers – B+P require a Smart Home App for users to contol these devices.
At the point B+P aprpoach EC they had spent considerable time investigating how to structure the Smart Home App architecture and had developed a working prototype.
EC were approached to work along side their small inhouse team (of 1) to transform a smart home prototype into the first version (MVP) of their Smart Home Mobile App.
Phase 1: We embarked on a product discovery phase with the client to map out the requirements for the MVP, undertook a review of the proposed architecture and undertook a UX/UI review of the current prototype designs.
Phase 2: Proposed a revised architecture using Flutter whilst continuing to leverage TUYA Lighting SDK (as selected by B+P) to provide the backend to the application and carried out a number of technical POCs to demonstrate how Flutter could deliver certain drag + drop functionality without the need for customisation
Phase 3: Revising the mobile app designs to reflect the mapped user journeys and specific client design requirements whilst also accommodating the technical requirements for the build.
Phase 4: Mobile App build working in 2-weekly sprints in close collaboration with the Client . The B+P architect maintained responsibility for investigation and design to accommodate the TUYA API, whilst the Elemental team took responsibility for the Front end architecture design and build.
